Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you work? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you eat healthy? Why you eat unhealthy? Why you exercise? Why you go out for social gatherings? Why you watch TV shows? Why you get upset when your date doesn’t call?

When you take the time to pause and ask yourself WHY you might be interested to see what comes up! Gary Vaynerchuk said it best when explaining Self Awareness “Conscious knowledge of one’s own character, motives, feelings, and desires.” If you don’t know why you do what you do, then how do you expect others to? Even if you already have a clear vision of what it is you want to achieve in this life, I highly recommend asking yourself WHY?

While reading the book “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek, I starting asking myself questions like: ‘Why do I crave something sweet and sugary after dinner?’ Is it because I was conditioned that way from childhood? Is it because I didn’t eat enough? … After some inner mind banter, I came to the conclusion that for me to feel satisfied before bed I need one last hit of sugar to round off the meal. (Again probably something that was instilled in me as a young child, but still my reason why)

‘Why do I enjoying reading personal development books?’ Is it because I want to grow and learn? Do I see it as a means to an end in becoming successful? … Honestly a bit of both!

‘Why do I want to be successful?’ Is it for the money? The fame? Is it because I felt as though I missed out on something growing up and want to experience life to the max? … This one brought up some interesting things for me, but I finally came to the conclusion that I want to help people! I want to be a role model in my field.

Do you get what I mean now about asking yourself why you do what you do?
Practicing self-awareness will give you the tool kit you need when challenges come your way. As long as you know who you are and WHY you are the way you are… nothing can stand in your way.

And lastly, respect yourself enough that no matter what your WHY maybe, love your self!
I could easily guilt trip myself after that extra slice of cheesecake but why should I? I wanted something sweet to finish off my dinner and I loved every bite of it!

Without self-love, we fall into the trap of, self-sabotage, guilt, limiting beliefs and a long list of other harmful traits.

Self-love works in all areas of life!

Money – If you don’t love yourself, then how do you expect the universe to create wealth for you? Without self-love, you will feel unworthy of money and find yourself spending it just as fast as it comes in.
Career/ Work – Without self-love, you will continue to work in a job that is unfulfilling and that you hate
Health – Without self-love, you will continue to treat your body like shit through what you eat and not like the temple it deserves.
Spiritual – Without self-love, you’ll never reach or maintain a connection with your true self and your own divine potential.
Social – Without self-love, you will continue to attract people who either dislike you or treat you with little respect.
Relationships – Without self-love how do you expect others to love you?
Mindset/Growth – Without self-love, you will continue to live in the shadows of your own self-doubt, hatred, and guilt.


Ask yourself WHY you do what you do and when you find the answer, give yourself nothing but unconditional love for who you are!
